Spotted on Safari: Lions and Cheetahs in Masai Mara
In this week’s ‘Spotted on Safari’ we are sharing some lovely images captured by our Driver Guide Imtiaz Rehemtullah, who has been with Somak Holidays since 2013. He has College certificates in Tour Guiding, Animal Identification, reservations and costing and is fluent in two European languages as well as having already mastered basic French and Level 1 Spanish.
Imtiaz’s travels have taken him to the Masai Mara this week and he shared some fantastic photos that he took on an early morning game drive of some male lions relaxing on the savannah whilst others were having a lie in, oblivious to the safari vehicles going by.
He also spotted some cheetahs enjoying a lazy morning during his game drive, trying to camouflage themselves in a bush, but his keen eye and instinct ensured he identified them!
The Masai Mara, where Imtiaz has just been on safari, is one of the most popular game reserves for a safari in Kenya. It will soon also be host to the the incredible spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration, and as we get some footage from our driver guides we will be sure to share it with you.
The area has an amazing concentration of wildlife, particularly when the wildebeest and zebras are grazing on the lush plains between June to October, and so it will become even more likely to see lots of wildlife in the coming months.
We hope that seeing these wonderful images by Imtiaz has inspired you to want to go on safari, and enjoy seeing these animals yourself, and to help, we have some amazing itineraries available.
We would love to work with you to plan the safari holiday of a lifetime. For more information on how our safari experts can help you, call Somak Holidays today on 020 8423 3000, or visit our website here:
