Ash’s four night Kenyan safari with The Elewana Collection
Elewana properties are a class of their own and are known for their uniqueness and spectacular views, each one based in a superb location.
After a short flight from Nairobi to Loisaba Airstrip, followed by a game drive, Ash arrived to incredible sweeping views across Laikipia’s landscape with acacia-dappled hills melting into the horizon and Mount Kenya in the background at his first stop, Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp. It was named by Luxury Travel Advisors as the World’s Most Instagrammable Hotel in Africa!
He really enjoyed his overnight stay in his spacious and airy luxurious tent, custom-built with large floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, high ceilings and polished wood floors. One of Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp’s striking features is its infinity pool, the perfect place to relax post safari.
During his stay here, Ash was able to experience a night safari as well as wake up to a breakfast al fresco with the sights and sounds of nature as company. What a wonderful treat!
For an animal encounter of a different kind, Ash also did a Camel ride experience in the bush.
For the second night of the trip after some fantastic game drives, Ash arrived by road at Elewana Loisaba Lodo Springs, which is also located in the Loisaba Conservancy, and is a much more intimate tented camp with eight individual, spacious tented rooms, each with impressive views stretching out over the savannah looking out to the striking snow-capped peak of Mount Kenya.
For the ultimate luxurious experience, each of the 8 tents is assigned an Elewana Guest Ambassador to serve and cater to your every need, as well as a dedicated safari vehicle and a highly qualified Elewana field guide, who will accompany you for the duration of your stay. Lucky Ash!
In the evening Ash enjoyed a sundowner with the other guests whilst admiring Africa’s spectacular sunset.
After experiencing the wonders of Laikipia, it was a short flight to the famous Masai Mara, where Ash spent the night at Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp, located in the Mara North Conservancy, tucked away in a grove of Elephant Pepper Trees, from where it derives its name. It has been featured on BBC’s programme, ‘The Big Cat Diaries.’
A stark contrast to the previous camp, here the camp is much more basic and in tune with nature, with each of the eight tents looking out to the African plains. There are no permanent structures, traffic or generator, just simply the sights and sounds of the African bush.
Then it was on to the final night of the trip and Ash checked in to Elewana Sand River Mara Camp, located on the banks of a river from which it has taken its name, Sand River Masai Mara. This camp is closer to the Tanzanian border and is blessed with an abundance of wildlife, which pleased Ash, who is a keen wildlife enthusiast.
He spotted a leopard, which sat patiently for about 40 minutes, as well as a Cheetah and Cheetah cubs.
This is a slightly bigger Camp with 16-tented accommodations, including 1 family tent, with each area allocated its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy. They are built to replicate the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920’s.
Whilst in the Mara, the group were thrilled to visit a local school with pupils aged between 5 and 13, although slightly disappointing to find that there weren’t enough teachers for the various classes.
In the evening Ash enjoyed a Dawa whilst warming up by the campfire – what a delightful way to end an amazing trip!
Ash had a wonderful time and would recommend the Elewana Properties as they are in superb locations and offer front-row seats to the wilderness within Kenya’s fantastic game reserves. If you are looking to combine your safari experience with a relaxing beach break then you will be pleased to know that Elewana has stunning beach properties too!
