African Safari Diaries: Mr and Mrs Black’s Namibian Adventure
In this week’s African Safari Diaries, we are delighted to share Mr and Mrs Black’s amazing Namibian adventure.
Namibia is a country full of striking natural beauty, renowned for its deserts. It also has a wild side, including a dramatic flank of Atlantic Ocean, spectacular spiky massifs and Africa’s largest salt pan.
Many of Africa’s large mammals, such as elephants, giraffes and black rhinos, reside in the dry river beds of the Namib Desert, but those wishing to see the ‘Big Five’ should head to Namibia’s greatest eco-region, the Etosha National Park, just as Mr and Mr Black did. It’s as striking as a safari gets.
Mr Black shares his experience with us.
1. What made you choose to go to Namibia?
We wanted to go to Namibia because I had been many times with my job, but my wife had not been as yet.
2. Was this your first time visiting Africa?
No – I have visited Southern Africa many times previously, and my wife has also been to South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, and Kenya.
3. How did you hear about Somak Holidays?
We heard about Somak Holidays after an extensive websearch.
4. What did your itinerary involve? How did we put it together for you?
The itinerary involved lots of travelling, a fair degree of luxury, seeing animals and sightseeing. We told Somak Holidays about the sort of places we were interested in visiting and seeing, and Somak Holidays prepared the itinerary for us.
5. Where did you stay whilst on your trip?
We stayed in Windhoek (at the Hilton), Sossusvlei Lodge, Camp Kipwe (The Suite), Anderssons Camp, and Mushara Lodge.
6. Which was your favourite property?
Easily the most favourite was Camp Kipwe, where we stayed in a really beautiful suite. Fabulous!
7. What were your highlights from the trip?
Highlights were the luxury and food we experienced at Camp Kipwe, the Cape Cross Seal Sanctuary (from Windhoek), and the game viewing in Etosha.
8. Would you recommend going to Namibia?
Whole-heartedly recommend Namibia – the cost, the sights, the friendliness – everything!
9. What was your experience with Somak Holidays like? Would you book with us again? Was there anything that stood out for you?
The entire Somak Holidays experience was really good. It was efficient, everything had been planned (and worked properly), and there were no unpleasant surprises anywhere. We would most definitely book with Somak Holidays again.
10. Any advice or tips for anyone thinking of going to Namibia?
Very few recommendations, apart from a strong recommendation for anyone to visit Namibia.
We loved it all!
