5 activities that will put Zambia on your travel radar

Zambia boasts some of the most unspoilt and wild landscapes in Africa. This remote wilderness provides the opportunity for game rich safaris without the crowds that so many other destinations have. The only bustling area is the country’s most popular attraction, Victoria Falls.

Here are 5 reasons to add Zambia to your travel radar.

1. Guided walking safaris in South Luangwa

Walking safaris

What better way to experience Zambia’s premier wildlife sanctuary than with your senses (sight, smell, taste, sound and touch) by following in the footsteps of Dr. Livingstone exploring the wilderness on a walking safari.

The guides are among the highest qualified in Africa. They’ll show you how to track animals, identify birds from their calls and discover the hidden world of insects as you walk through the bush.

2. Canoeing on the Zambezi River

Canoe trips can be one of the most rewarding ways of game viewing and to see riverside wildlife.

3. Experience the mighty Victoria Falls

Some of the most spectacular views of the Victoria Falls are from the Zambian side of the gorge. The ‘Smoke that Thunders’ is one of Zambia’s most awe-inspiring experiences and you can either visit the Falls independently, or take a guided walking tour.

4. Game drives along Luangwa River

Game drives along Luangwa River, home to large numbers of crocodiles and hippos, and herds of elephants and buffaloes, offer superb sighting opportunities. Birding is also fantastic with over 450 species to be seen.

5. Experience the thrill of Devil’s Pool

From late September to January the water levels on Livingstone Island are extremely low. This allows brave souls to take a dip on the edge of the Falls amongst the rocks that form a kind of bathing pool, called Devil’s Pool – a natural infinity pool at the top of the Falls. For those that are wanting an adrenalin rush!
