Spotted on Safari – The king of the jungle
In honour of World Lion Day, for this week’s ‘Spotted on Safari’ we have selected some of our favourite images of Lions, taken at several game reserves in Kenya, by our experienced driver-guides, who have a keen eye for photography. We hope you enjoy seeing them.
Known for their earth shattering roars, giant paws and majestic manes, lions are often a sign of strength and power. Individually, they usually are quite imposing. Collectively though, they are a species in trouble. Gary E. Knell, president and CEO, National Geographic Society.
World Lion Day aims to raise awareness of the ‘king of the jungle,’ whose populations are in decline and is now considered an endangered animal. This celebration was founded by Big Cat Rescue, the world’s largest accredited sanctuary dedicated to big cats. August 10th every year is a day for people to pay tribute to the mighty feline in as many ways as possible, and we are celebrating by sharing our favourite photos of this majestic hunter.
We hope that seeing these wonderful images by our driver-guides has inspired you to want to go on safari, and enjoy seeing these animals yourself, and to help, we have some amazing itineraries available.
