Spotted on Safari – Photos from Joseph’s Safaris

In this week’s ‘Spotted on Safari’ we are sharing some amazing photos by Joseph Wangombe, taken on his recent safaris in Kenya. Joseph joined Somak in 2015, after stints both with the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife and as a safari and wildlife Education Officer. His expertise has been rewarded with the Silver-Level Guide award. Joseph’s other skills include excellent Spanish, Customer Care, and First Aid training. Perhaps most comforting for safari-goers, Joseph also holds a Glen Edmunds certificate for 4WD On & Off Road Driving.

Leopards in trees are such a fantastic but rare sight, and Joseph has managed to capture them perfectly, and so clearly as well!

We also love this photo of Rhinos lazing around whilst Zebras graze in the distance. So many animals in abundance amongst the lush greenery of the Kenya parks.

If you look closely at this Zebra, who Joseph saw in Lake Nakuru, you will notice it is missing its mane. While there are various debates about the cause of this, global warming is quoted as one possible cause, due to the high temperatures.

Can you spot the flamingoes in this one? Lake Nakuru is famed for being abundant with flamingoes. So many people visit for a chance to see these fabulous birds.

The African bush is just as mesmerising at night as it is during the day, and we love these evening shots by Joseph, of the giraffe silhouettes in the distance while the sky is a fiery shade after sunset.

The lone tree amongst the moody sky is also another fantastic shot. Whether you go for an early game drive or evening safari, you are guaranteed to have an amazing experience with our Somak Driver Guides, who are so well informed and so familiar with the parks, and will ensure you get the best out of your Kenya safari and have a memorable trip.
