Spotted on Safari This Week by Bushra Sultan, Managing Director of Somak Safaris Kenya

Bushra Sultan

Bushra

In this week’s spotted on Safari, we are delighted to share some fantastic photos from Bushra Sultan, Managing Director of Somak Safaris Kenya, who has even amazed our experienced Somak DG’s with her superb photos from recent safaris in Nairobi National Park and Amboseli.

We have unearthed a hidden talent in Bushra, and are really excited to share her photos with you, as she definitely has a keen eye for photography.

Bushra has lived in Kenya her entire life and has always had a passion for travel. She studied tourism at University and consequently pursued a career within the travel industry. She has been with Somak Holidays for over 20 years, having joined in 1998 as a Travel Consultant, and now heading up the Kenyan team.

Starting off with Nairobi National Park, Bushra captured fantastic photos of some lionesses. There is currently a lion project at Nairobi National Park, so if you look closely you can see it wearing a special satellite collar which enables the Kenyan Wildlife Services to track the lions in real time.

At Sweetwaters, located within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, on the Laikipia plains, she took some brilliant photos of Rhinos, including one with a baby Rhino, which is such a sweet photo.

Also taken at Sweetwaters were some lovely photos of birds, including a male Weaver bird building his nest, for all those keen bird watchers out there, plus an elephant and another lioness, who seems to be on the prowl. Bushra told us that the lioness was actually after a Warthog, who turned out to be smarter and so it lived to see another day.

As her safari experience continued on to Amboseli, we were treated to superb photos of a Lion with a couple of lionesses and an elephant with, a breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro in the background.

Concluding her safari in Amboseli, she has a personal favourite photo from her trip of the Mountain with an Acacia Tree. What a view! Isn’t nature beautiful?
