3 family friendly African destinations perfect for the Summer Holidays

Why not consider one of our African destinations this summer for your family break? With The Lion King movie due out in July 2019, we’ve selected three destinations that are perfect to see wildlife on an exhilarating safari, as well as have a relaxing beach break, in July and August.

Kenya

Kenya is an amazing destination, especially between late June to October, where you can witness the greatest wildlife spectacle when herds of wildebeest migrate in the Masai Mara. Through July and August you may be lucky and see them them crossing the Mara River between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya.

After seeing all the various animals, why not relax in the coastal city of Mombasa with its stunning beaches, delicious cuisine and wonderful hospitality.

            South Africa

We recommend Kruger National Park during July and August as although it is the winter months in South Africa, the temperatures are mild in Kruger, with an average daytime temperature of between 23–25 degrees, and, as the parks are quieter, you will have a much more enjoyable experience.

During these months it is easier to spot wildlife on the various terrains, especially around the waterholes.

For those who want a different experience (and don’t mind a bit of mud), try a frogging safari in South Africa’s Kruger Park, as an introduction to the continent’s wildlife. You will be kitted out alongside the kids with a net, headlamp and wellington boots and the guide will help you catch, identify and release some colourful croakers.

Tanzania

You can also experience the great migration in Tanzania in the Serengeti, or enjoy a fantastic safari in the Ngorongoro Crater, which has a striking, diverse landscape with lakes, swamps, acacia forest and savannah which attracts plenty of wildlife, perfect for the kids to spot their favourite characters from The Lion King.
