Day 1 Monday Aberdares

On arrival in Nairobi, transfer to the Somak Safari Lounge, where you can freshen up and store any additional luggage before departing for the Aberdares (180 km - approximately 4 hours). Arrive in time for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing, or on a nature walk with the resident naturalist (weather permitting).

Day 2 Tuesday Samburu

Drive north across the equator to the Samburu National Reserve (190 km - approximately 4 hours). Lunch before a late afternoon game drive.

Day 3 Wednesday Samburu

Morning and late afternoon game drives in this open savannah which is traversed by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The river is populated by hippos and crocodiles, whilst the park is home to a host of animals including several species which are rarely seen in numbers elsewhere, including Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffes and long-necked gerenuks.

Day 4 Thursday Aberdares

Drive to your lodge in time for lunch (240 km - approximately 4 hours). Spend the afternoon viewing game from the lodge, or join a nature walk led by a local guide (payable locally and weather permitting).

Day 5 Friday Lake Nakuru/naivasha

After breakfast, descend into the Great Rift Valley and continue to Lake Nakuru Lodge (240 km - approximately 4 hours). Lunch. Afternoon game drive in the national park. Drive to Lake Naivasha (80 km - approximately 1 hour).

Day 6 Saturday Masai Mara

Optional boat trip on Lake Naivasha (payable locally). Drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve (320 km - approximately 5.5 hours). Arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.

Day 7 Sunday Masai Mara

Enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. Alternatively, take an early morning balloon flight over the Mara followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra). After lunch, relax before a late afternoon game drive.

Day 8 Monday Arusha

Drive to Nairobi for lunch (360 km - approximately 6 hours), or lunch in the Mara and fly by light aircraft to Nairobi (optional extra, 15kg luggage allowance). Transfer to Nairobi airport for an evening flight to Kilimanjaro.

Day 9 Tuesday Lake Manyara

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions (150 km - approximately 2.5 hours). Your lodge commands panoramic views across the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Here you have time to relax before an afternoon game drive.

Day 10 Wednesday Serengeti

Drive to the world-famous Serengeti National Park with game viewing en route (235 km - approximately 5 hours).

Day 11 Thursday Serengeti

Enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge, or an early morning balloon flight over the Serengeti followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra). Later enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Day 12 Friday Ngorongoro

Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater (200 km - approximately 4 hours) via Olduvai Gorge, and check in to your lodge which is perched on the jagged rim of the Crater. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 13 Saturday Ngorongoro

Drive down into the Crater for a half-day of game viewing. This extinct volcano plays host to wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles, elephants, rhinos and big cats. Visit a local Masai village (time permitting).

Day 14 Sunday Depart

Drive to Arusha (200 km - approximately 3.5 hours). Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to the airport for your onward travel arrangement.

Alternatively, there is the option to fly directly from Arusha to Zanzibar for your beach extension.
