Located high above the floor of Africa's Great Rift Valley, Angama Mara overlooks Kenya's Masai Mara, considered by many to be the loveliest game reserve on the continent.
There is a private airfield and access to the Mara below, tailor-made safari days and a famously warm Kenyan welcome.
Here you can be as active or as relaxed as you wish - early morning balloon flights over the Mara, escorted walking safaris, game drives, visits to neighbouring Masai villages or just sit in one of the rocking chairs on your tent's deck and watch the wildlife pass by, or have a totally relaxing massage.
The lodge is just 10 minutes' drive from the Mara Triangle, which is home to abundant African wildlife.
Angama Mara consists of two totally separate camps. The two camps are set alongside one another, each with its own guest area, kitchen and dedicated staff. The Pavilion, set between the two camps, is home to the Safari Shop, a swimming pool, and a fitness room. Food and your dining experience is very important at Angama: on arrival at the lodge enjoy a little snack whilst unpacking. Lunch can be enjoyed on your tent deck, at the lodge, by the pool or a Mara picnic in the shade of a lone tree in the middle of nowhere. Afternoon tea with fruitcake, cucumber sandwiches and scones are served at the lodge. Toast the sunset with bitings (an East African word for snacks) with a gin cocktail in the boma. You can enjoy an elegant candlelit dinner in the lodge or a cosy dinner for two on your tent deck, or perhaps Angama Mara's signature family-style bush BBQ, where chefs grill to perfection fat juicy steaks, prawns from the coast or Swahili-spiced kuku (chicken is Kenya's most-loved dish). All this in a lovely forest near the lodge, lit with lanterns and a nightly chorus of hyenas. After a restful night's sleep, a butler discreetly leaves fresh orange juice, steaming coffee and a newly baked something in your lobby. After a game drive you will be ready for a delicious breakfast. Should you need it, wi-fi is available.
Rooms
The two camps consist of just 15 tents each. Every tent is beautiful and well equipped and has magnificent 180? views. They have a bar, a safe, hairdryer, fans and a large deck. The canvas tents have a glass frontage which offers views from the bed, the bath, the sitting area, the shower and even the w/c. You can sleep with the sliding doors open, for the fresh air and sounds of the wild, with meshed doors latched for safety.
