Opened in April 2020, Governors' Mugie House is the perfect addition to the Governors' Camp Collection, expanding an already diverse array of wildlife locations and activities.
Set out around a hill in the heart of Mugie conservancy, each stone-cottage enjoys sweeping views over the Laikipia plains or the colourful gardens. The interior design brings eyecatching colours and patterns to an airy and expansive landscape, creating the perfect welcoming nature retreat.
Covering almost 50'000 acres, Mugie Conservancy provides a key wildlife access route between the Laikipia plateau, the Mathews Range and the Samburu lands to the north and east. Vast acacia-dotted savannahs, scrubland and olive forests are a haven to a multitude of wildlife in plentiful numbers, including all the big cats, buffalo, elephants and endemic northern Kenyan species such as Grevy's Zebra, Jackson's Hartebeet and Reticulated Giraffe.

There is a bar and a dining room, spa, gift shop, infinity pool and waterhole hide. Day and night game drives are available. Breakfast is a continental and full English buffet. Picnics/packed meals can be provided for those who would like to head out on full or half day game drives. Bush meals are available to book at an extra cost. Special diets are catered for on request.
Twin and double cottages (5 cottages): En suite stone cottages are furnished with fireplaces and luxurious baths. Each enjoys an expansive view over the landscape or over the colourful Mugie House garden.
Suites (2 suites): Enjoy a private plunge pool on the verandah, with infinite views across the Laikipia plains.
Family cottage (1 cottage): An en suite double and twin room are interconnected by a spacious lounge area with a wide verandah and private plunge pool.
Governors' Mugie House sleeps a total of 18 guests. All cottages are out around a hill in the heart of the conservancy, giving sweeping views over the Laikipia plains and to Mt Kenya. Each spacious cottage offers luxurious baths and open log fires.
