African Safari Diaries: A dream twin Centre holiday to Kenya and Mauritius
Jane Bailey recently visited Kenya on a twin centre holiday, going on an exciting safari first, followed by 9 nights in idyllic Mauritius for a relaxing beach break. She told us all about her wonderful trip and has shared some fabulous photos.
Was this your first time visiting Kenya and Mauritius? What made you decide on the combination?
This was our first time visiting both Kenya and Mauritius. We wanted a twin centre holiday and wanted two totally different types of holiday. We chose Mauritius as our second location as a chill out holiday for 9 nights after a week in Kenya.
How did you choose your itinerary?
The itinerary was chosen between our friends and booked with a travel agent.
Where did you stay whilst on your trip and what was your favourite property and place?
In Kenya we stayed at the amazing Treetops hotel, then at Nakuru and lastly at Keekorok Lodge. In Mauritius we stayed at the Zilwa Attitude Hotel at Kalodyne.
We didn’t have a favourite place or property as they were all amazing!
What were your highlights or special moments from your trip?
The highlights of Kenya were just everything! Seeing the wonderful scenery, the amazing animals, the boat trip on the hippo lake, the hot air balloon flight with breakfast sat in the middle of the Masai Mara, and standing looking over the Rift Valley on our way back to Nairobi. There wasn’t one bad moment!
Our driver who was with us all week was called John, he was from Uganda and was a joy to be with, such a lovely man who found us all the best places to see the animals and sights.
Mauritius was equally as lovely, but more restful. Once again it couldn’t be faulted for anything, amazing staff and food and like Kenya, nothing was too much trouble.
Do you have any advice or tips for anyone thinking of going on a holiday to Kenya and/or Mauritius?
Advice for others is just enjoy every moment and please respect all the wonderful people who do so much for you. Monetary tips are well deserved.
Take a good camera!!!!
