Spotted on Safari this week in the Masai Mara and Samburu by Dan Thuo
Daniel Thuo, popularly known as Dan, has a fantastic eye for wildlife photography and regularly sends us incredible shots that he has taken of various animals. He is particularly fantastic at capturing moments!
Dan graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor’s degree, and worked as the Principal at St Triza High School, followed by a role as the Deputy Principal at Ruiri High.
He has excellent communication skills and has successfully undergone training for Tour Guiding with Somak Holidays, a course on Leadership at Mount Kenya University, and is currently completing a language course in Mandarin.
For those of you who love the Big Cats, you will be amazed by some of the incredible shots of cheetahs and lion cubs that he has taken and we are so delighted to share them with you.
First up is this incredible shot of a cheetah chasing its prey! What a moment to capture!
Next up are a series of shots of cheetahs climbing a tree and using it as a vantage point to look out for their prey. Cheetahs regularly seek high points to scan their surroundings, and have even been known to climb on top of safari vehicles sometimes!
It is leopards that usually can be found relaxing on trees and so Dan aptly captioned this as “Don’t mistake me for a leopard…”
For a little bit of a cuteness factor here is a cheetah surrounded by cheetah cubs in Samburu, which Dan has captioned as “The future of Samburu.”
Now you may remember the earlier shot of the cheetah chasing the prey…well now we have the scene after that moment, perfectly timed by Dan, where the cheetahs are now enjoying devouring the kill.
After their meal, here they are cleaning each other, with their stomachs full.
Imagine coming face to face with these eyes. What would you do?
Ending this collection of beautiful photographs with a really lovely one, here are some adorable lion cubs captured by Dan in the Masai Mara, which he captioned as “The future of Masai Mara is bright.”
Has seeing Dan’s incredible photos inspired you to go on a Safari to see these Big Cats for yourself?
