Masai Mara One Of The Top 50 Most ‘Instagrammable’ Places In The World!
According to a survey by Travel and media company Big 7 Travel, Kenya’s Masai Mara has earned a spot on the list of Top 50 ‘Instagrammable’ Places In The World, a yearly list that uses a tally of the number of Instagram hashtags per destination, combined with a survey of its users. The final list is then selected based on its visual and social media popularity.
Coming in at 35th, Masai Mara earned more than a staggering million hashtags, with examples such as #masaimara and #masaimaranational park ranking highly amongst others.
Often, reality can’t live up to the saturated hype of Instagram, but that’s far from the case in the Massai Mara. Its 583 sq. miles (1.5 sq. km) sweeping grasslands are home to hundreds of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hippos, and more. The best way to ensure Insta-worthy snaps is to book onto a reputed reserve tour.
We agree with that and as safari experts we can curate the most incredible trip to the Masai Mara, named after the Masai people that inhabit the region and the Mara River which snakes through the reserve. It is home to the world famous ‘big five’ amongst many other species and the area has an amazing concentration of wildlife, particularly when the migratory wildebeest and zebras are grazing on the lush plains from June to October. Surrounding the Masai Mara National Reserve are a number of private conservancies of varying sizes owned by Masai communities.
It is one of our top Kenyan safari destinations and has been extremely popular with tourists seeking a thrilling safari adventure both on ground via game drives as well as in the air, by taking part in luxury hot-air balloon expeditions.
A Hot Air Balloon ride across the Masai Mara is definitely Instagram goals, and most come complete with a bush breakfast and sparkling wine – all of which would make a seriously enviable Instagram shot. It is also an incredible experience, and gives a fantastic alternative aerial view of the game in the national park.
Another must see and very Instagrammable event is the Wildebeest Migration and it is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed!
However, as we progress through 2022 and beyond we anticipate a rise in popularity of TikTok as well as Instagram, as footage of a Kenyan safari is likely to attract a lot of attention as a bucket list experience!
