Day 1 Amritsar

Day 2 Amritsar
Half-day city tour of Amritsar - visit the
Golden Temple, the spiritual nerve-centre of
the Sikh faith. See the community kitchen
(langar) where volunteers feed 30,000
people free daily. Later visit the historic
Jallianwala Bagh, which commemorates the
hundreds of innocent Indians killed or
wounded by British bullets. Also see the
beautiful Ram Bagh gardens. In the evening
visit the Wagah Border ceremony.

Day 3 Dharamshala
Drive to Dharamshala through the narrow
mountain roads. A beautiful and serene hill
town that shot to fame after His Holiness
Dalai Lama took shelter here. Rest of the day
at leisure.

Day 4 Dharamshala
Visit Bhagsunath and Mcleod Ganj.
Bhagsunath has an old temple, a spring, slate
quarries and a small yet beautiful waterfall, a
popular picnic spot. Tibet has lent
importance to Mcleod Ganj. The Buddha
temple is situated opposite the present abode
of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Mcleod Ganj
is well worth a visit to see the Tibetan
monasteries and nunnery, plus a number of
residential buildings, restaurants, antique and
curio shops. The evening is at leisure to walk
through the streets of Mcleod Ganj.

Day 5 Manali
Drive to Manali. Evening at leisure to explore
the scenic beauty of the surroundings.
Manali is named after the sage Manu to whom a temple is dedicated in the old town. It is believed that when he reached Manali following a great flood, it was here that he left his ark in order to re-generate life. The valley is known as the 'Valley of the Gods'.

Day 6 Manali
Visit Vashishth to see the hot water springs.
Also visit Hadimba temple and walk through the mall road of Manali and see Naggar
Castle. Hadimba Devi Temple is an ancient
cave temple dedicated to Hadimbi Devi, wife
of Bhima, a figure in the Indian epic
Mahabharata. Vashisht Temple in Manali is
dedicated to sage Vashisht, the Kula guru of
Lord Rama in the village Vashisht across the
River Beas. Naggar Castle is a magnificent
historic structure, built in 1460 AD in an
impressive combination of European and
Himalayan architecture.

Day 7 Shimla
Drive to Shimla, the capital and the best city
of the northern Indian state of Himachal
Pradesh. In 1864, Shimla was declared the
summer capital of British India and remained
so until independence in 1947. It is the
principal commercial, cultural and educational
centre of the hilly regions of the state.
Shimla is home to a number of buildings that are styled in the Tudorbethan and neo- Gothic architectures dating from the colonial era, as well as multiple temples and churches. Attractions include the Viceroy Lodge, the Christ Church, the Jakhoo Temple, the Mall Road and the Ridge, which together form the city centre. In the evening stroll through Mall Road - the most happening place, also visit the ridge.

Day 8 Shimla - Toy Train
Take a trek up to Jakhoo Temple, dedicated to
Lord Hanuman. Head to the historic Shimla
railway station to board the toy train for
Taradevi. On your way back, explore the
magnificent Viceroy Lodge. Take a moment
to pause and watch the sun go down over
the hills - a beautiful sight which is sure to
stay with you for a lifetime.
