In the morning visit the Shore temple, Five
Rathas and Arjuna's Penance rock structures.

Day 3 Pondicherry
Leisurely drive to Pondicherry. In the afternoon
make a visit to Shri Aurobindo Ashram, Sacred
Heart church, walk through colonial
Pondicherry and along the beach. Take a
rickshaw ride. Late afternoon, sit and relax at
one of the cafes in Old Pondicherry for a cup
of tea or coffee.

Day 4 Tanjore
Drive to Tanjore and visit Chidambaram and
Gangaikonda Cholapuram en route.

Visit Brihadishvara Temple (UNESCO Heritage
Site) in Tanjore and the Srirangam temple at
Trichy. Also visit a brass idol and traditional
musical instrument making factory.

Day 6 Chettinad
Drive to Chettinad. Explore the magnificent
old mansions and visit the local market and a
traditional tile making factory. Chettinad is
famous for its cuisine which you may wish to

Day 7 Madurai
Drive to Madurai. Visit the Meenakshi temple
and Thirumalai Nayak palace. Take a walk

Day 8 Periyar
Drive to Periyar. In the late afternoon visit the
spice market at Kumily. In the evening,

Early morning boat ride on Lake Periyar. Walk
through the spice plantations. Take an
optional elephant ride. Witness a cooking

Day 10 Kumarakom
Drive to Kumarakom. Free afternoon to

In the morning join a houseboat cruise. Sail
through the backwaters. Lunch on board.
