Kenya Coast Mombasa boasts nearly 500 kilometres of tranquil white beaches, golden sand dunes, warm aqua water, archaeological treasures and idyllic secluded islands. It is the second largest city in Kenya, located on an island separated from the mainland by the Likoni Channel to the south, the Makupa Causeway to the west and Nyali Bridge and Mtwapa Bridge to the north. Beyond the city’s boundaries are the popular beach resorts of North and South Mombasa. Malindi and Watamu are a few hours north of Mombasa. Both offer excellent coral reefs with some of the best diving in Kenya. If you’ve got a few days to spare why not add the excitement of a safari to your idyllic beach break. We have a range of itineraries available to nearby parks which are ideal to experience a short exhilarating safari to spot some wildlife. What’s new? The Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Madaraka Express is the fastest train in Kenya’s history, operating at an average of 75 miles per hour, almost double the speed of the now-defunct Kenya–Uganda Railway, which was built in 1901 during the colonial era. The SGR has shortened the travel time between Nairobi and Mombasa to four-and-a-half hours while road travel can take up to eight hours. This is a brand new way to travel and after your safari you can take the train to Nairobi. 12 Somak Holidays • Baobab Beach Resort & Spa Ukunda Airstrip Q
