It is best known for its unrivalled views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its huge herds of elephants that can be seen against the dramatic backdrop of the mountain. Although it is one of Kenya’s smaller game parks, the flat and dusty landscape provides good opportunities to see a large variety of wildlife including buffaloes, lions, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeest and zebras. Popular safari itineraries that feature Amboseli: Parks and Peaks safari This 3-night safari departs from the coastal town of Mombasa. It is an excellent opportunity for first time safari goers and combines a visit to Kenya's largest national park, Tsavo, and a visit to Amboseli, considered by Hemingway to be the very essence of Africa.
