20 Somak Holidays 020 8423 3000 Tsavo National Park The National Parks of Tsavo East and Tsavo West together form one of Africa's largest wilderness reserves. Tsavo as a whole consists of 10 million acres of pure wilderness, incorporating savannah and hills and an extensive river system. The sheer scale of Tsavo gives the visitor a chance to really get away from it all, and to explore the wild in total solitude. On safari here you will see large herds of elephants, their hides often bright red with dust, as well as lions, buffaloes, elands and giraffes. Tsavo is a birdwatcher's paradise with numerous species of weavers, hornbills, sunbirds, rollers, and raptors commonly seen. Tsavo National Park is easily accessed from the coast at Mombasa. The nearest town is Voi, where you can experience the SGR Madaraka Express train. ! Easily combinable with a beach stay in Mombasa. Ashnil Aruba This lodge is in a superb location close to the Aruba Dam. Several watering holes nearby attract wildlife and spotting animals is easy because the park lies flat with savannah grassland. There are 46 rooms and 6 tents, all with a terrace. For more details see page 39. Satao Camp Satao Camp is part of the ‘The Out Of Africa Collection’ which is a collection of chic eco luxury camps. Nestled amongst trees and surrounding a central waterhole, the semi- circular layout of the camp provides an excellent viewing point for all of the 20 en suite tents. Galdessa Camp The camp, which has a relaxed feel, was designed to blend in with the environment, using earthy colours and natural woods throughout. The camp is located along the Galana River under fringed doum palms. There are 12 comfortable and spacious, thatched and semi tented en suite bungalows.
