A collection of private reserves run along the western border, including Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and since there are no fences, wildlife roam freely across the area. It is ideal for self- drive safaris, with entry gates situated in key areas, smooth roads and accommodation strategically positioned around the park. Safaris in Kruger are often combined with Panorama Route self-drive itineraries, incorporating the natural beauty of the Blyde River Canyon, however, Kruger can easily be reached with just a one hour flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit, Nelspruit (Mpumalanga) or Skukuza, depending on the location of your accommodation.
